Kortrijk Xpo will open its doors this Autumn to welcome design professionals keen on discovering the latest trends and innovations at Design Nation! A brand new trade fair with a premium range of design furniture, lighting, interior textiles and decorative objects.
Design Nation will take place over two days, on 19 and 20 October, at Kortrijk Xpo. It is thé new hotspot for design, open only to professionals active in contract and project design. Decision-makers in charge of designing of high-end hotels & restaurants, offices, project development, healthcare facilities, … Apart from this layer of professionals, interior designers, decorators and design retailers are also invited to attend Design Nation.
New fair concept
After the era of the renowned Biennale Interieur, there was something missing in the Belgian design landscape. Within our team, the idea grew to develop a new fair concept: as ambitious and high-end as Interieur, but adapted to the current needs of the industry. A thorough survey pointed out that manufacturers nowadays are in need of a high-quality B2B platform to present their design innovations, which is preferably limited in time and 100% dedicated to a professional audience.
“The world is changing rapidly. It used to be enough, for example, to furnish an office with functional elements, but those days are over. Today’s working environment should radiate warmth, with cosy seating areas and flexible settings. The same applies for healthcare facilities and not in the least for hotel lobbies. Functionality is always combined with aesthetics and with creating a specific atmosphere,” says Hannelore Caenepeel, exhibition manager.
As far as exhibitors are concerned, expectations are high. Design Nation is aiming for national and international premium brands which will inspire visitors with innovative products and materials. The main part of the event consists of furniture, both indoor and outdoor, as well as kitchen and bathroom furnishings, interior textiles, lighting and decorative objects.
Innovation is key
Innovation is key at Design Nation! A jury of design professionals will judge the innovative character and creative level of the collections and objects on display. The particularly unique ‘plug-and-play’ formula not only appeals massively, it allows all objects displayed at Design Nation to take center stage.
Hannelore Caenepeel “We want make sure our exhibitors don’t have to invest in an overly expensive stand. Our unique scenography, in which stands are separated by semi-transparent curtains, is especially designed to make sure that the all-in package covers everything!”
Trend watchers from different sectors and countries will give talks on the trend stage. Among others, the winner of the ‘Designer of the Year’ competition organised by Knack Weekend will speak during a trend session, as will Christine Boland, in collaboration with Trendvision. Hilde Francq of FRANCQ COLORS will in turn guide us through the latest interior design trends for 2024.
