As already announced in our magazine, Domotex Hannover (10-13 January 2020) has Atmysphere as its keynote theme. Atmysphere puts its central focus on all those qualities of floors and floor coverings that contribute to wellbeing, naturalness and sustainability. What will Atmysphere, taking place in an entire hall 8 for the first time, be all about? Read on and discover!
Inspired by megatrend
As indicated, the show’s layout plan has changed drastically. Hall 8 will now be devoted entirely to the Framing Trends display. Hall 8 will star as the pulsating, emotive heart of the event, with visitors being welcomed and wowed by a large textile horizon showing projections of atmospheric images.
The new lead theme Atmysphere will address how floors can improve our sense of well-being. In a series of Frames, the organisation will be showing the contribution that a floor’s appearance makes to the overall atmosphere, how its texture dampens noise and how ecological production techniques make for a healthier indoor climate. Manufacturers, artists, universities and, for the first time, start-ups will take up these and numerous other characteristics to create soothing, personal worlds of experience via their creative approach.
“The lead theme is inspired by a current megatrend,” explains Sonia Wedell-Castellano, Deutsche Messe’s Global Director of Domotex. “That trend is society’s heightened focus on health. Health is synonymous with quality of life and living well – and therefore translates into high expectations of the spaces around us. Alongside this, considerations of sustainability and recycling – and hence natural materials – continue to play a major role in our society. In terms of floor coverings, these are considerations and themes that are currently very much to the fore with our exhibitors and their work, especially given the great importance of floors as elements of creative interior design. With the right materials and design, carpets and floor coverings can be important factors in personal wellbeing and in the design of homes and workplaces that promote it.”
Partner agency Schmidhuber will stage four pavilions consisting of furnished themed rooms, so as to make the lead theme even more tangible. “Hotel – Sustainable”, for example, illustrates the impact of materials and furniture, including acoustic paneling in a hotel room. “Wellness – Green Living” emphasizes health-promoting and environmentally friendly aspects. “Conference – More than Floor” focuses on acoustic solutions, going all the way to upholstered seating landscapes, while “Health – Wellbeing” features a yoga room for relaxation.
In the space between these focal points, the advantages of outdoor floors and a flowing transition from indoors to outdoors will be highlighted. The aim is not only to provide inspiration to designers, architects and retailers, but also to illustrate concrete areas of application.
“With its stimulating, high-quality program of talks, lectures and discussion panels based on the Atmysphere keynote theme, Framing Trends is the beating heart of the show”, concludes Sonia Wedell-Castellano. “It will be a forum where creatives from all design-oriented professions can meet up, make new contacts, find inspiration and do business.”
